Manheim’s new dedicated HGV auction centre in Coventry sold more than 130 lots for £1.5m at its inaugural event, making it the firm’s highest value truck and trailer sale ever.

The launch event on 19 January at the six-acre site in Rowley Drive attracted 324 registered buyers - a new truck record for the business.
About two thirds of the buyers joined the event remotely via Simulcast, Manheim’s online bidding platform, and between them they registered 1,200 individual bids and secured 47% of the entry.

Manheim will consolidate its fortnightly truck sales events from across England into Coventry and introduce a weekly sales programme at the centre. It will also hold a fortnightly plant auction and monthly bus and coach sale. The company will also continue to sell commercial vehicles at its Shotts auction centre in Scotland.

James Davis, director of commercial vehicles at Manheim, said Coventry is the UK's first and only weekly truck and trailer auction.
He added: “The decision to consolidate Manheim’s English truck, trailer and plant sale programme into Coventry has exceeded all initial expectations. The engagement and feedback from clients and team members alike has been overwhelming.”

The site also includes a new electronic inspection system.
