Renault Trucks Essex has sold Proteus Waterproofing its first truck, a 26-tonne Range C380 6x2 rear-steer rigid.
The 11-litre truck is fitted with a curtain-sided body from Wheelbase Engineering with no visible straps and a 2,000kg capacity Dhollandia cantilever tail-lift to form the rear enclosure. The bumper and grille are black with the cab wrapped in yellow to increase on-road visibility and promote safer urban operation.
There are also side marker lights and a rear LED light cluster. Proteus Waterproofing office manager Rozalind Richardson said customer service was a large part of the decision making process. “Mark Edgell (salesman at Renault Trucks Essex) treated me with the utmost respect, took the time to explain everything clearly and I felt supported throughout the entire process of buying our first truck.
“It is business critical the roofing felt arrives undamaged, it is liable to shuffle in transport and tip, causing damage. Our Range C features pull up load retention rings - the strapping on the bed of the third party truck we were previously using, was usually one metre apart on either side - and we were able to specify every 500mm, which means the felt is secured more effectively.
“We also have a rave-to-rave load restraint system suspended from the roof, which means the pallets can be secured from above, giving us an additional method of ensuring the load arrives in top condition.” Proteus Waterproofing, based in Rayleigh, Essex, was established in 2013 and delivers to sites and roof refurbishment projects across London and the home counties.
John Holland from Wheelbase Engineering added: “This bespoke Range C was a high-specification vehicle from start to finish. It was a very nice project to work on and Rozalind was open-minded to new ideas. The Range C was extremely easy to body and is ideally suited to the application."
