The D and D Wide range has received a facelift to link Renault Trucks' HGVs with its LCV products.
Suited to urban and regional operations, the D range includes the Renault Trucks E-Tech D, D Wide & D Wide LEC (low entry cab). As well as refreshing the look of this line-up, the vehicles are also fitted with new safety equipment.
Its new design features full LED headlights in a C-shape which most closely resemble headlights found on cars. Similar to Renault’s HGVs, the D range gets a new upper grille and a decent amount of space above this. This gives operators another area to showcase their business by having plenty of room for livery on the front of the vehicle.
Electric versions get a fully painted front, including the grille which visually distinguishes the two powertrains. A blue “E-Tech” strip under the upper grille also makes it easily recognisable as an electric vehicle. The whole range wears Renault Trucks’ new logo.
Elsewhere, the truck has been subtly redesigned to enhance safety for drivers and other road users. The grab handles and position of the rear-view mirrors have been altered to improve line-of-sight. As the D model is generally used in urban applications, this makes it easier to manoeuvre down narrow streets. The rear-view mirrors themselves have also been updated to improve visibility.
Radar and camera technology is fitted around the vehicle to provide the driver with real-time information. The system can alert the driver if there are vulnerable road users or other vehicles in their blind spots. For out of town driving, the D range is equipped with lane departure warning, a lane keeping system and speeding alerts.
To minimise tyre related breakdowns the vehicles are fitted with automatic tyre pressure monitoring so drivers can quickly identify any signs of a puncture or maintenance problem.
