Renault Trucks is the first mainstream manufacturer to offer a right-hand-drive zero-emission heavy truck, having today launched the Range D Wide ZE 6x2.

The battery-powered 26-tonner uses four 50kWh batteries, which power twin electric motors (260kW continuous and 370kW peak). Quick charging takes just two hours.

The maximum range is dependent on multiple factors, including the number of batteries specified, the application, driving style, terrain, and traffic and weather conditions.

Uniquely, Renault is offering a 10-year battery performance promise with all trucks supplied on maintenance contracts, giving buyers additional peace of mind. It guarantees that after 10 years a 200kWh battery pack will either still have 125kWh of useable energy per full charge, or will have delivered 250MWh of total energy during its lifetime (whichever comes first). Likewise, a 300kWh battery will have 187.5kWh of energy left, or will have delivered 375MWh.

“This is the dawn of a new era, and the start of a paradigm shift,” declared Renault Trucks UK MD Carlos Rodrigues. “In a few years from now it will not be about horsepower, it will be about kWh. It will be about how much power a truck can deliver to an operator. And with the battery promise we are providing, Renault Trucks customers will have peace of mind for up to 10 years.

“At Renault Trucks we strongly believe in sustainability, and this is the start of decarbonising the transport industry in the cities. This is such an amazing day for us, our brand, and the whole industry.”

The Range D Wide ZE is available to order now, with the first deliveries expected later this year.
