Renault Trucks pass 1000 electric trucks at Blainville plant

Renault Trucks' plant in Blainville has reached its first milestone in the production of medium-duty 100% electric trucks.

Since series-production began in 2020, the plant has produced 1000 electric trucks with 16-, 18- and 26-tonne electric variants now being used by operators throughout Europe.

The Renault Trucks plant in Blainville-sur-Orne (Calvados) has been producing vehicles since 1956 but was partly repurposed in March 2020 with a 1,800 sq m building entirely dedicated to final assembly of electric vehicles.

Demand for electric mobility has been growing and Renault says half of the electric trucks sold in Europe are produced in the Renault Trucks plant in Blainville-sur-Orne.

The plant has seen a continuous adaptation of its industrial tooling and the production capacity has gradually increased to meet the demand for electric trucks.

Tesco has recently put its first zero emission 18-tonne Renault Truck on the road with plans to add more to the fleet. The Renault E-Tech D Wide truck is based in Dagenham and will deliver to 400 stores within London. It features a Solomon Commercials body with multi temperature zones, and a Carrier TRS Syberia 11 fridge. It is also has a rear shutter door and a 1,500kg column tail lift.
