Compass Energy has taken delivery of a new Renault Trucks D Wide 6x2 rigid truck with a tanker body from Cobo Tankers. The D26 will be used to deliver fuel to household, agricultural, construction and industrial plants across Bristol, South Wales, the South East, the Midlands, and Lincolnshire. Supplied by RH Commercial Vehicles (RHCV), the new purchase is the result of a good relationship between the two companies.

Stuart Morgan, managing director at Compass Energy said: “The trucks look smart and perform well. Their manoeuvrability is impressive – which is an important factor as they are required to get into tight spots. We have been impressed with the service from RHCV in the past. The R&M package and quality of service has been fantastic. With the recent acquisition of Coventry and the location of Leicester, they are even more convenient for us. This was another key factor for opting for the Renault.”

The D Wide is designed with a compact chassis which makes it well-suited to the urban areas Compass Energy operates in and around. This facilitates a tight turning circle to make it easier for the driver to navigate narrow sites. To support good visibility in city environments, Compass Energy specified the truck with a lower window in the passenger door to minimise blindspots on the nearside.

Cobo Tankers equipped the truck with a 20,000-litre fuel tank. The fitment took place in Spain and the tanker is specifically designed to move petrol and hazardous goods. As well as enhancing the truck to maximise driver visibility and manoeuvrability, the vehicle has a reversing warning buzzer to alert other road users and pedestrians when it is travelling backwards.

The vehicle was supplied on a seven-year repair and maintenance contract, covering maintenance checks, breakdown and parts warranty cover. RHCV has a network of Renault Trucks and Isuzu Trucks dealerships across the East Midlands.
