Nottingham-based international freight operator the RH Group has bought 50 bespoke Krone Mega Dry Liner box trailers.

Nigel Baxter, the group's transport director, designed the 4.0m triaxle double-deck trailers, which have an internal height of 2.96m and decks that move up and down in 50mm increments.

"The trailers will go into the European groupage service to 38 different destinations across Europe. Fifteen will go into service this year with the balance in 2010," he says.

The Mega Dry Liners, which had previously been trialled, represent the sort of modernisation companies need to remain competitive. "The trailers replace the last of the tilt trailers, which were not practical any more for transport; they are not very palatable, there are health and safety issues regarding their use and they are not efficient in terms of the time it takes to open up and put together," he says.

Baxter suggests that as many as 100 more Mega Dry Liners box trailers could be ordered in the future.

Krone makes up 95% of the RH Group's transport fleet. "We are very happy with the performance of all of our Krone Trailers and the level of support given by the Krone Team in the UK.

"This has enabled us to have a longstanding relationship and the reason we have continued providing them with the lion's share of our trailer supply," says Baxter.
