Sales of Road Tech’s DOT plug-in download tool are booming, said director Adrian Barrett.

“We launched it in 2019 and we’ve supplied more than 15,000 since then, despite the impact of the pandemic during that period,” he said.

The tool can be used to track a truck and download tachograph data remotely, Barrett explained.

“It’s Bluetooth-enabled so the driver can view the data himself when the truck is stationary using a smartphone, and see what driving hours he’s got left.”

Transport managers can use the downloaded data to alert the driver if they think an hours breach is imminent.

Road Tech’s Roadrunner transport management system now allows the user to put in a link to subcontractors a company is using.

“The link can be forwarded to the subbie’s driver to allow him to report when goods have been delivered or collected, and to send a photo of the POD,” Barrett said.

“He can also report his estimated time of arrival at a destination if there is a delay.”
