International haulage specialist RTH Lubbers is to spend £1.2 million this year on expanding its UK fleet to 50 trucks.
The company, which has bases in Aberdeen, Newcastle and Great Yarmouth in Norfolk, spent £1.6m last year on 12 new tractor units and 25 new trailers, one of which is a £300,000 multi-axle modular trailer capable of managing payloads of 100 tonnes or more.
The investment comprises of eight Scania R-Series 560's and four new Volvo FH 540s.
RTH Lubbers saw turnover increase from £13.9m in the year-ending 31 December 2010 to £18.1m for the year-ending 31 Dember 2011citing strong growth in the oil and gas sectors. The Dutch company now runs 260 vehicles Europe-wide after opening new facilities in Romania and Italy in 2012, and has plans for a new base in the Netherlands in the near future.
RTH Lubbers MD Tony Tailford said he expected the growth to lead to more jobs being created at its Aberdeen centre.
