Sam Whittaker takes on national sales director role within Mercedes-Benz Trucks

Sam Whittaker has been appointed as national sales director for Mercedes-Benz Trucks UK.
Whittaker, who joined Mercedes as a trainee in 1992 and moved over to trucks in 1997,most recently held the post of customer and parts director. His new role sees him take on responsibility for vehicle sales, marketing, key account management and aftersales. He will also oversee Mercedes and FUSO sales and truck remarketing activities.
Speaking about his appointment, Whittaker said: “It has been my goal to have an extensive network of trusted relationships with customers, suppliers, our dealers and colleagues. I’m passionate about delivering on our ‘Trucks You Can Trust’ brand promise, and look forward to getting struck into my new role.”
Whittaker will take charge of the German manufacturer’s Truck Connectivity business, which Mercedes says will anticipate developments within customer trucks and provide recommended courses of action in real time, helping to reduce downtime for operators. 
Alongside this, Whittaker will be responsible for the truck training and product demonstration operations, and the new experience centre at Wentworth Park near Barnsley.
Commenting on the move, Mercedes-Benz Trucks UK MD Mike Belk, said: “With his extensive UK market experience in both sales and operations, Sam is ideally placed to drive the Mercedes-Benz Truck sales business to further success.”
