A top performing graduate from Scania's truck apprentice programme has won the 2015 Institute of the Motor Industry's (IMI) outstanding achiever award in the heavy vehicle category.
Ciaran Blakemore, 23, received his trophy from IMI group patron, HRH Prince Michael of Kent, during a ceremony held at the Silverstone racing circuit in Northamptonshire.
Blakemore was nominated for the IMI award by Skillnet - Scania's apprentice programme training partner.
He graduated from Scania's three-year commercial vehicle apprentice programme this year, having already won two victories in the Swedish manufacturer’s own apprentice of the year competition (2013 and 2014)
Since graduating Blakemore has progressed to the position of Process Improvement Executive for Scania.
It is a key role within the manufacturer’s learning and development department and sees him supporting Scania branches in the South West with the implementation of new service processes and standards.
Blakemore is the second Scania apprentice to have won the outstanding achiever award, the other being Andy Ledbury, who was awarded the title in 2012.
Since then, Ledbury has progressed to the position of branch controller at Scania Abingdon.
Claes Jacobsson, MD for Scania (Great Britain) said: “Ciaran is most certainly a rising star within our organisation.
"Since starting as an apprentice technician at our Heathrow branch, he has shown great aptitude for the job and a tremendous appetite for learning.
“I am delighted he now becomes one of our Process Improvement Executives, which will enable him to share his knowledge as we continue to further improve and develop the service we deliver to our customers."
