Scania’ Suffolk branch TruckEast, has promoted Alex Vickery to the role of finance director from the role of financial controller, a position he had held since joining in 2010.

Having gathered more than 20 years’ experience in finance and previous roles including many FTSE 250 listed business and industry, including Financial Controller and The Paper Company, which positioned him to take over from his predecessor and former co-owner of the branch, Simon Hobson.

During his nine years as finance controller, Vickery has seen the firm acquire two other businesses and be recognised as the 13th biggest company in Suffolk. He’s also “built up a great insight into the business and industry” according to the branch.

John Biggin, MD of TruckEast, said: “Alex has extensive working knowledge of the business and has demonstrated he has the capability to be an excellent financial director.”

Vickery originally joined the business due to, what TruckEast claimed, was its agile nature and its ability to maintain both customers and staff at its core.

He will also join the board consisting of six members including MD, and now sole owner John Biggin; regional aftersales directors Martyn Clipston and Graham Broughton; sales director Harley Coulson and Simon Hobson, who still remains an active member after selling his shares and stepping back from day-to-day operations.

Vickery will be based at the dealerships head office in Stowmarket leading a team of 11 staff members.
