Irish haulier McNally Logistics has begun using three Schmitz Cargobull curtainsided trailers to withstand the effects of saltwater spray during regular ferry crossings.

The 13.6m triaxle MODULOS galvanized chassis trailers were delivered at the end of 2019. They come with a 10-year warranty against rust breakthrough, and are of bolted construction, making for quick and easy component replacement. All have Schmitz Cargobull’s disc-braked ROTOS running gear.

Alan Reilly, transport manager at the Navan, County Meath haulier, said: “Our trailers travel on multiple ferry crossings every week, where they’re at risk of significant damage from sea spray. Schmitz Cargobull was the only manufacturer we spoke to willing to provide a 10-year warranty against corrosion, which should lower our maintenance costs as well as increase fleet reliability.”

The three trailers join a fleet of 20 trucks and 23 trailers, and are expected to remain in service for eight years.
