SDC Trailers will exhibit its aerodynamic trailer with ATDynamic box tail technology at next week’s Commercial Motor Live.
Supplier partner ATDynamics has designed and tested the TrailerTail in the USA where it cut fuel consumption by an average of 6% at motorway speeds. In some cases this rose to more than 13% when combined with other aerodynamic features such as side-skirts.
SDC has been assessing the design with a view to adding it as an option to its full trailer range. At 1.2 metres in length when fully extended, the TrailerTail fits into the scope of the Department for Transport’s longer semi-trailer regulations and will allow operators, whose loads already meet the maximum gross weight, to take part in the trial.
Paul Bratton, SDC director, said: “We were first with the longer semi-trailer and now we’ve introduced the TrailerTail to the UK market to help operators save fuel and reduce carbon emissions – both of which are high on many business agendas at the moment.
“We will have an impressive range of trailers at Commercial Motor Live and our experienced team can explain the bespoke options available on specifications.”
Visitors to Commercial Motor Live - which takes place at Millbrook Proving Ground on 3 and 4 October - will be able to see the TrailerTail on display. To book your place now go to commercialmotorlive.com
