Former MAN boss Simon Elliott has been appointed MD at Mercedes-Benz dealer group Intercounty Truck & Van.

Earlier this year Elliott resigned from his previous full-time position as UK MD of MAN.

The franchised dealer, owned by Northern Ireland-based Ballyvesey Holdings, has its headquarters in Wellingborough, with branches in Milton Keynes, Peterborough, Boston, Lincoln and Toddington.

Elliott was MD of Chrysler Jeep from 1999 until 2006, and spent two years as president and chief executive officer of Chrysler Group China before returning to the UK as MD, Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles. From 2011 to 2014 he was CEO of Volkswagen Group Ireland, with responsibility for its car as well as commercial vehicle brands.

Elliott said: “I was looking for a fresh challenge and the prospect of joining Intercounty Truck & Van, a dealer that represents the industry’s benchmark truck and van products, has excited me from the outset.

“This is a business with huge capacity for growth. We have some great people, fantastic facilities, and are backed by a well-funded owner which, through its various different interests, knows the road transport industry inside out.

“The foundations for success are already in place. My job is to provide leadership, and to ensure that customer service remains at the very top of the agenda as we address those issues which have been holding us back.”
