A top-spec 4x2 Volvo FH previously used by a British superbike racing team has been snapped up by a general haulier that also delivers racing pigeons. Previously operated by JG Speedfit Kawasaki in 2015, the Globetrotter XL cab was bought by Leighton Buzzard-based S&J Pierce Transport through the Volvo-approved used trucks network.
S&J Pierce Transport, which has a 45-strong fleet, regularly travels the UK to collect racing pigeons before taking them to France for release. The Volvo, which has clocked up 16,000km, has had Kelsa high bar, roof-mounted air horns and Alcoa Durabright alloy wheels added.
The family-owned operator has acquired 10 FH units from Volvo’s approved used programme over the past 18-months, including three this year. Partner Steve Pierce said: “Because of our European coverage the trucks average 150,000km a year, so reliability is key.”
