Waste management and construction firm Smiths (Gloucester) has unveiled its new livery on four Volvo FH tractor units.

The order, supplied by Truck and Bus Wales & West under an R&M contract, was split between two 6x2 500hp pusher-axle trucks and two 6x4 double-drive configuration models.

The 6x4s are coupled to Titan moving-floor trailers and are used for a variety of bulk waste operations, while the 6x2s are pulling Rothdean bulk tippers for the movement of recyclable materials and aggregate.

Director Paul Smith said: “Our Volvos have proved reliable and the product is good. The Euro-6 FHs also deliver significantly reduced engine emissions compared with trucks of only a few years old.”

  • There’s not long left to enter the Tip-ex and Tank-ex Awards. The winners will be revealed at a gala dinner sponsored by Hardox Wearplate, manufactured by SSAB Swedish Steel, on 29 May at the Majestic Hotel in Harrogate, North Yorkshire.
