Pembrokeshire haulier GD Harries & Sons plans to open a new authorised testing facility (ATF) in south Wales, following the closure of a local Vosa test station last week.

The aggregates haulier, which runs 48 vehicles out of a site in Narbeth, aims to open the testing lane on 8 May.

Business manager Janet Phillips told Commercialmotor.com that the firm decided to open the ATF when Vosa revealed its test site in Ammanford was to close on Friday (15 March).

The nearest Vosa site is now located more than 30 miles away in Swansea.

Earlier this month, Carmarthenshire operator Owens Road Services also opened a testing lane at its depot in Llangennech.
