Evesham-based Spiers & Hartwell has ordered 12 new Scanias from Keltruck, for delivery throughout the year.

The trucks, which consist of 11 S500 6x2 tractors and one S730, join a 50-strong all-Scania fleet.

Operations manager Adrian Lake told CM the company has run Scanias since the early 1980s and he is pleased with the latest models, praising both driver acceptance and decent fuel economy. “We achieve 9.5mpg with the new vehicles, while we were getting between 8mpg and 8.5mpg with the previous generation,” he said.

The haulier has, for several years, placed an order for 12 new Scanias, replacing four-year-old trucks on a rolling basis. All are on three-year R&M contracts, and will be serviced at Keltruck Droitwich.
