Stennett’s Transport says it has cut its fuel bill by more than £200,000, following the roll-out of Mandata driver-monitoring software across its 30-strong fleet of 44-tonne bulk tippers.
The Suffolk bulk haulage and warehousing firm says the technology has created a 0.8mpg improvement in fuel consumption, saving around 40,000 gallons of fuel, as well as reduced expenditure on tyre and maintenance costs.
MD Malcolm Stennett explains: “The mpg across our fleet has dramatically improved, resulting in a £202,727 fuel saving in 2011. Due to the reduction in our maintenance costs, we were not affected by the 33% increase in the price of tyres in 2011.”
The company’s drivers have received training to combat harsh acceleration and deceleration, which Stennett says caused “everything else to fall into place and we are noticing savings month on month”.
