Former director general of the RHA, Stephen Norris, has been appointed by Boris Johnson to the board of Transport for London (TfL).

The Mayor of London has also asked Norris to sit on the board of the London Development Agency, with the specific task of co-ord-inating work between the two bodies.

Johnson says Norris, who has also served as transport minister, will bring a wealth of knowledge and experience of both "transport and business to these important roles".

Meanwhile, Johnson has confirmed that he will chair the board of TfL for the time being, with the long-term leadership of the board being considered over time. Former Mayor Ken Livingstone has chaired the board for the past eight years.

Johnson has also unveiled his new director for transport policy. Vice-chairman of the Conservative Party Kulveer Ranger will lead on policy direction for transport on behalf of the Mayor. He will also oversee the relationship between the Greater London Authority and TfL.
