Fresh produce supplier Stewarts of Tayside has added 10 DAF XF 480 6x2 tractor units along with 10 new Gray & Adams refrigerated trailers.
The new generation XFs have been supplied through Asset Alliance Group on a three-year contract hire deal. The trailers are dual temperature fridges that arrive on operating lease contracts.
Stewarts of Tayside is one of the UK’s largest growers of swede and soft fruit with the Perthshire family-run company responsible for more than 3,500 acres of land on the banks of the river Tay. It runs a mixed fleet of 43 trucks and has a 54-strong fleet of Gray & Adams refrigerated trailers.
Jim Winn, transport manager at Stewarts of Tayside, said: “We pride ourselves on delivering fresh produce, primarily swede, strawberries and raspberries to our customers in the best possible condition.
“The additions to our modern fleet are allowing us to expand our operations, ensuring we can continue to offer a high level of service in the distribution of our fruit and vegetables across the UK.
Stewarts of Tayside currently makes more than 600 deliveries a week and each of the new vehicles is expected to average 160,000km per year.
- DAF Trucks will be exhibiting at this year’s Road Transport Expo, which takes place at Stoneleigh NAEC on June 28-30. It’s FREE to attend, and registrations are now open.
