Stobart Group chief executive Andrew Tinkler won the contribution to logistics award at the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport’s (CILT) annual awards for excellence last night (20 October).
Tinkler was presented with the institutes’ Sir Robert Lawrence Award for Stobart’s efforts to deliver sustainable distribution; its industry-leading fleet utilisation performance; its shifting of freight from road to rail and its campaigning for environmentally friendly trailers to help reduce the number of lorries on UK roads.
The Sir Robert Lawrence Award is presented to an individual judged to have made a major contribution to, and raised the status and recognition of, the logistics and transport industry.
The CILT also signalled out the Eddie Stobart: Trucks and Trailers documentary and its members club for boosting the public profile of the industry, as well as its efforts to bring in young people to logistics via its apprenticeship programme.
Tinkler says: “It's an honour to receive the Sir Robert Lawrence Award from the CILT and to be recognised for my work within the logistics industry. At Stobart Group we strive to introduce innovation into the sector and to reduce waste from the industry as a whole.”
