Stobart Group has signed a 10-year contract to provide warehousing for Nestlé UK's seasonal confectionery products such as Easter eggs.

The operation – worth about £110m over the 10 years – will be based at Stobart's existing distribution centre in Bardon, Leicestershire.

Andrew Tinkler, Stobart group chief executive, says: "I am delighted that we have been able to build on our existing relationship with Nestlé by securing this major long-term contract.

"Our warehousing division already occupies in excess of six million square feet of state-of-the-art facilities throughout the UK, and this contract illustrates the way in which we can offer value-added distribution activities to major customers."

Sean Brogan, business development and operations director at Stobart Group, adds: "No extra trucks will be based at Bardon but over time we expect to employ an additional 40 people."
