Stoneridge - better known in the UK as Veeder-Root - has updated its SE5000 digital tachograph making it easier and quicker to use for drivers and managers.

The SE5000 allows data to be downloaded 10-times faster than previous versions and can interface with a tracking unit to allow driving data to be downloaded remotely. Drivers can also start driving immediately they put their card in the machine. The SE5000 automatically recognises the driver and when the driver has confirmed if he has done any work since the card was last inserted, the unit starts up. Manual entry of comments is also easier and can be previewed before being permanently written to the card.

Stoneridge digitachs are fitted as original equipment by Daf, MAN, Scania and Daimler Chrysler.
