Independent builders’ merchant MKM Building Supplies has taken delivery of 10 new Iveco Stralis X-Way 6x2 rear-steer rigids.

The units are the first Stralis X-Ways to be ordered by the Hull-based company which has 60 outlets across the country.

The 310hp Stralis are fitted with dropside bodies and truck-mounted cranes to enable them to load and unload building materials as they deliver to construction sites.

Supplied by North East Truck & Van, the units are part of an ongoing fleet replacement programme and were chosen because of their suitability for light off-road work. MKM Building Supplies specified them as “ON” model vehicles for on-road work, meaning that they have been built for on-road homologation with a reinforced chassis.

The Stralis X-Way range also includes ON+ and OFF models, for vehicles which spend more time off-road.

Shane Thompson, head of transport at MKM Building Supplies, says: “The new X-WAY hit the mark perfectly. Hearing positive feedback from another builders’ merchant which took one of the first new models convinced me to place an order. So far, the new X-WAY’s performance has been excellent.”
