Staffordshire haulage firm Strongserve has gone into administration. The firm ceased to trade on June 14, says a spokesman for administrators John Titley and Andrew Poxon of Mancester-based DTE Leonard Curtis. He adds that the firm "would have been insolvent" if it continued to trade, confirming that its business and assets were sold to a third party on the same day that Strongserve was placed into administration.

He adds that Strongserve's former directors were not involved in the purchase. Some Strongeserve staff have been made redundant, while others have transferred to the buyer. A winding-up petition against the firm, presented by Walsall-based Volvo dealership Hartshorne East Midlands, Hartshorne (Potteries) and Hartshorne Motor Services had been due to be heard at Manchester High Court on June 18.

Pall-Ex had previously confirmed that it had axed Strongserve from its network due to "the financial instability and ongoing service failures". There were strong rumours that Strongserve's assets had been purchased by recently formed Burgess Logistics, run by Jason Burgess. Motor Transport was unable to contact Strongserve or Burgess as we went to press.
