The boss of a Suffolk haulage firm who had two specialist vehicles stolen out of his yard told Commercialmotor.com the thieves had “stolen his livelihood”.

Vince Marshall, at Vince Marshall Services, said he did not know what more he could have done to prevent the theft of the low loader and the eight wheel Hiab out of the Bury Road Business Park, Chedburgh, premises last week.

“It seems to have been very well organised,” he said. “I suspect they have been stolen to order. They removed the trackers from the vehicles and they were all liveried up, but they took the stickers off in the yard.

“We are in a very secure industrial area, they just came to get them and there was no stopping them. I don’t know what you can do unless you sleep in them with a gun.”

The firm is offering a £5,000 reward to anyone with information that leads to the recovery of the trucks.

Suffolk Police said the incident took place between 5pm on the 24th and 7.45am on the 25th January and that following a search of Marshall’s workshop two sets of keys for two lorries were taken and the Scania lorries, registrations Y1 VJM and W1 VJM, were driven out of the yard.

John Pearson, owner of HJ Pearson & Sons based next door to Marshall, said: “There were vehicles far more obvious out the front of ours. They went to a lot more trouble to get those; you wouldn’t know they were there, they are well out of sight.”
