Sumo Heavy Haulage, alongside parent firm Sumo UK, welcomed more than 650 guests to an open day at its 100,000ft2 Melbourne, East Yorkshire site last week to demonstrate the company's agricultural equipment and heavy haulage services.
Transport manager Jeremy Desmond said Sumo Heavy Haulage has been in operation for one year now (the company held a restricted O-licence before). “We have found it a challenging year,” said Desmond, "mainly getting our name recognised for haulage and the fact we do work for other parties not just our own account."
He added that the haulage operation has been kept busy during the year on a mix of low-loader and curtainsider work – both carrying Sumo UK’s farm equipment and also for third-party customers, including haulage to mainland Europe.
"I would put our success so far down to reliability of service and our clean image. Customers really do appreciate a clean well-presented truck and driver and this is something we work hard to keep to at all times," said Desmond.
