Road Transport Expo (RTX) will see Sunswap showcase its electric transport refrigeration unit (TRU), Endurance.

The unit is an alternative to traditional diesel-powered refrigeration systems and Sunswap said its TRU can support operators in becoming more sustainable, whilst reducing costs.

Based at stand Y0, the Sunswap team will be able to discuss the technology used for the zero-emission unit. This covers the battery equipment and on-board solar panels to power the refrigeration component.

The team will also be able to share real-world experiences from more than 20 customer trials.

Alastair Gough, head of business development, said: “We are thrilled to be participating in the Road Transport Expo and sharing Sunswap Endurance with the industry.

"Endurance has been proven to deliver comparable performance to diesel units while eliminating direct emissions and reducing operating costs by up to 90%. We look forward to showcasing our technology for the first time at RTX.”

The Endurance unit has been tested with operators, manufacturers, 3PLs and retailers.

These trials have included reliability testing and validation across chilled, frozen and multi-temperature routes across a wide range of conditions.

Production is expected to begin in spring 2024 and nine operators and retailers have already committed to add Endurance units to their fleets.

Road Transport Expo takes place from 4-6 June at NAEC Stoneleigh in Warwickshire. It is completely free to attend for visitors, so why not book your place today?!
