To commemorate the passing of a team member Swing Driver Logistics Ltd (SDL) enlisted the help of Mac’s Truck Rental. Dane Heavens passed away in January so in his memory, the team wanted to dedicate a new truck to him. The DAF CF 8x2 truck is fitted with a Fassi F820 crane and on the driver’s side features a mural for Dane.

Andy Moloney, operations director at SDL said: “It felt only right that such an integral part of our company from the start should be honoured on our newest truck that he would have been so proud of.”

The truck is wrapped in SDL’s blue branding and features Mac’s flatbed body, high grip flooring, patented front leg stabiliser system, stainless steel toolboxes and mud-wings, cameras, work lights, and vehicle signage.

SDL is a filming logistics provider. The team supports customers such as the BBC, Sky, Netflix and Warner Bros on projects from stage performances to TV and film productions. The company has worked on projects including the Magic Mike stage show, Matilda the Musical and Lord of the Rings. Moving the sets and materials required for these jobs involves heavy lifting so the new truck needed to be equipped with a reliable crane.

As one of the leading truck rental companies that also offers leasing and hire services, Mac’s Truck Rental was able to deliver SDL’s request to add a mural to the side of the cab. The black panel is detailed with a gold pinstripe around the edge and the silhouette of a car on the top and bottom of the plaque. The inscription reads “In memory of Dane Heavens 1982-2024”.

Dane is survived by his wife and four young children.
