Timber and builders merchants Sydenhams has taken delivery of a DAF XF 480 Space Cab, its first ever new tractor purchase.

The truck, which joins a 64-strong predominantly DAF fleet, was bought from Adams Morey.

It will be based at Sydenhams’ new Glastonbury branch, and will be used to deliver timber products and building materials from as far afield as Penzance and North Wales.

Jamie Thompson, group transport manager at Sydenhams, explained that the XF will be coupled to a tri-axle trailer, one of a handful Sydenhams inherited when it purchased the Glastonbury site.

He said: “We ran a trailer refurbishment program of the inherited trailers where we had them re-sprayed and the fitment of new curtains. They now sit in our colours and livery, which we think looks very smart.”
