TDG has signed a three-year contract extension to distribute irons, vacuum cleaners, fridges, cookers and fires for Glen Dimplex Home Appliances.
The transport firm has worked with the group - which owns brands such as Stoves, Belling, New World, Lec, Morphy Richards, Xpelair, Dimplex and Roberts Radio - since 2000.
TDG delivers articulated loads across the UK for Glen Dimplex, based at a 450,000ft2 warehouse in Stoke-on-Trent.
TDG contract manager Paul Brereton says: "TDG has taken an innovative approach to cost by generating backhaul revenue and has reduced idle shifts by finding supplementary work. Our in-house developed transport-planning software gives us visibility of the whole of the UK transport situation. This, combined with the scale of our company, provides opportunities to minimise empty running, which saves our customers money and removes empty miles."
Ian Worsley, head of logistics at Glen Dimplex Home Appliances, says: "Working with TDG has helped reduce cost per box delivery rates."
