Telematics firm Teletrac Navman and consultancy Fleetcheck have published an online checklist to help businesses assess whether they are operating compliantly.

The checklist asks questions about driver management, maintenance, O-licence responsibilities and company responsibilities. An operator’s score is then added up to identify its strengths and weaknesses.

It can be completed by both van and HGV operators and provides links to online advice on the areas the operator could improve on.

Teletrac Navman UK marketing director Peter Millichap said: “Managing the risk associated with operating a fleet is critical and so is adhering to the plethora of laws in vehicle legalisation.

“Today, fleet management companies need to be aware of their responsibilities regarding driver safety, as well as being well informed in each area of vehicle, driver and risk management,” he added.

“The potential consequences of not being compliant are severe, so we encourage all fleet owners to take the time to complete the checklist to see how they measure up.”
