Lancashire-based bulk haulage specialist James Booth (Bolton) has put five new Volvo FM 6x2 tractor units with factory-fitted lightweight mid-lift axles into service.

The vehicles, supplied by Thomas Hardie Commercials, have Globetrotter cabs, 11-litre D11K engines that produce 450hp as well as hydraulic wet kits supplied and fitted by the dealer.

All come with Volvo Gold R&M contracts through the Trafford Park, Manchester branch of Thomas Hardie Commercials, and each one is expected to cover about 115,000km a year.

The family-owned company, which has operated Volvos for about 15 years, transports a range of bulk construction materials for its customers.

Ian Baxendale, general manager at James Booth (Bolton), said the haulier now operates 19 Volvo trucks out of a total fleet of 21 vehicles.
