Steline Transport of Dukinfield in Cheshire has taken delivery of a Volvo FM 6x2 tag-axle rigid fitted with a front-mounted Palfinger crane supplied by Thomas Hardie Commercials, Trafford Park.

The 410hp truck, which features a Globetrotter LXL cab with single bunk and leather upholstery throughout, includes I-Shift automated transmission and Volvo Dynamic Steering.

Flatbed bodywork is by PPS Commercials of Bury, Lancashire, while the Palfinger crane, which has a 12m reach and 2,150kg maximum lift capacity when fully-extended, is from TH White Group.

Steline Transport’s fleet includes six FM rigids and tractor units and a 500hp Volvo FH, which the company acquired through the Volvo Used network.

Mark Bayley, driver and son of the company’s founder and owner Steve Bayley, said the truck is returning about 12 mpg.

“We generally carry lightweight steel fabrications, air conditioning units and cast concrete so cubic capacity is more important to us than GVW. The entire build was arranged through Thomas Hardie Commercials and the outcome is stunning.”
