Gregory Distribution has taken delivery of two new double deck curtainsiders from Tiger Trailers, each with the ability to operate as either a single or a double deck unit.

The 13.7m tri-axle straight frame curtainsiders are the first of this type to join Gregory Distribution’s fleet and have been designed so that the fixed deck can be easily unbolted and removed, allowing the haulier to transport a large range of potential loads.

There are also front aerofoils and rear roof scoops that improve aerodynamics and fuel efficiency. The trailers, which will stay in the fleet for 10 years, will be on the road seven days a week, travelling up to 156,000km a year.

Gregory Distribution already operates 12 other Tiger trailers, a mix of single and fixed double deck variants.

Dan Saunders, technical support manager at Gregory Distribution, said: “The versatility of a removable deck was a really important factor in the design.

“We worked really closely with the design team to ensure they understood how we intended to use the load space - the trailers matched the brief perfectly and the entire process was seamless.”
