TIP Mechanic Academy delivers 100% pass rate as latest cohort graduates

All 16 students in the latest intake of the TIP Group Mechanic Academy have graduated, maintaining the programme’s 100% pass rate since its launch in autumn 2023.

The latest cohort takes the total number of trained trailer technicians to 40, as TIP continues to build a pipeline of skilled staff for its UK workshop network. Each graduate will now return to their respective branches to support trailer maintenance and repair activity.

Developed to fast-track trailer-specific skills, the nine-month course focuses on core components including axles, braking systems, suspension, electrics and trailer bodies, offering a more targeted route than traditional heavy vehicle training.

The programme is delivered in partnership with Innovam and combines classroom learning, e-learning and hands-on workshop experience. Students are assessed through practical and written exams, and graduate with industry-recognised qualifications including IBKI certification and CPD accreditation from the Society of Operations Engineers, alongside endorsements from JOST and BPW.

All participants are employed throughout the course, receiving full pay and benefits as well as a professional toolbox, aimed at widening access to careers in the sector.

The 2026 cohort includes recruits from engineering, logistics and warehousing backgrounds, as well as existing TIP employees and those new to the industry. Each student is supported by a mentor during the programme and beyond, helping transition into full workshop roles.

Graduates follow a structured development pathway, typically working towards Institute of Road Transport Engineers accreditation within months, before progressing into specialist or mobile service roles.
