Volvo Truck and Bus specialist Hartshorne Motor Services has boosted its workshop flexibility with a Totalkare brake tester and mobile column lifts. The dealer group added the new equipment to its multi-bay workshop at its Walsall location. Thanks to increased demand in maintenance services, the equipment will allow for a variety of different vehicles to be serviced in the same workshop.

The company opted for eight mobile column lifts which can be used in sets of four and six, depending on the vehicle, without having to switch bays for the correct equipment. Alongside the mobile column lifts, Hartshorne has installed a TK70 in-ground brake tester. Its robust design means it can handle the demands of a busy workshop with a high turnover of heavy vehicles.

The brake tester is rated to carry vehicles with an axle load up to 18,000kg. As well as the main hardware, the brake tester is supplied with a PC, printer, monitor, cabinet and tablet device as standard. The mobile tablet means brake tests can be performed from the driver’s seat.

Paul Butterworth, group quality manager at Crossroads Truck and Bus Ltd & Hartshorne Motor Services Ltd, said: “We have a long-standing relationship with Totalkare and have always been impressed with their level of service and high-quality equipment.”

Brian Young, national account manager at Totalkare, said: “We worked alongside Paul and depot manager, Andy Gibbons, to find the ideal combination of workshop equipment for their new depot. With different types of trucks being tested and maintained on a regular basis, the brake tester and column lifts will support Paul and his team by keeping up with the increased number of vehicles entering the building.”

Based in the West Midlands, Totalkare is a UK supplier of lifting and testing equipment for heavy duty commercial vehicle workshops.
