Drinks distributor Tradeteam was named European Transport Company of the Year 2010 last night, easily beating off competition from the six other shortlisted hauliers.
Tradeteam added the accolade, presented by Belgian publication Truck Europe in Brussels, to the title Haulier of the Year in last year's Motor Transport (MT) Awards.
The jury, composed of leading logistics magazine editors, including MT's Steve Hobson, voted Tradeteam the overwhelming winner.
The company, a joint venture between DHL and Molson Coors, was ranked highest for customer service by Analytiqa and for financial stability by PricewaterhouseCoopers.
Belgian haulier Van Dievel came second, with Romanian haulier International Lazar securing third spot.
"While the jury found it hard to compare a £155m-a-year 3PL such as Tradeteam with much smaller family-owned hauliers, in the end, the UK operator was a clear winner," says Hobson. "Its commitment to customer service and value has enabled it to grow in a declining market by winning new customers who compete with one of its shareholders [Molson Coors]."
This year's Motor Transport Awards, now in their 24th successful year, are taking place at the Grosvenor House Hotel, London, on Tuesday 13 July 2010.
