The UK’s entrant into the World Crane Championship has recorded a personal best score on the way to being beaten by the competition’s reigning champion at the global finals in Hanover.
Trevor Tack, from Beaconsfield, competed for the third time after securing his spot in the UK heat held at the Road Transport Expo earlier on in the year.
Tack recorded his best time at the finals but was beaten by Andreas Öhman from Sweden who was crowned world champion for the second event running.
The fourth World Crane Championship finals were hosted by Ike Fast, a star of German TV, and the industry influencer Hiab Princess, Samantha Mason, from Trafford Haulage.
The final included a brand-new, eight obstacle course which Tack completed in a time of 2 minutes 37 seconds. Reigning champion Andreas Öhman completed the same course in just 1 minute 53 seconds.
“I’ve had another unbelievable weekend with Hiab. We had a few wobbly sessions during qualifications, but I managed to set my best personal time this weekend. I was up against Andreas in the quarter-final knockout rounds, last year’s champion. If I was going to get knocked out by anybody, I’m glad I got knocked out by the guy who won,” Tack said.
“I’ll definitely try and go for the fourth time; I’ll be practising as soon as I land back in the UK. Hopefully, we can get a few more people involved next time round,” Tack added.
