Pontypool-based Collier Haulage has taken delivery of five Volvo FH-500 6x2 tractor units with Globetrotter XL cabs, supplied by Truck and Bus Wales and West in Newport.
The new tractors all come with Volvo’s I-Shift transmission, are on two-year repair and maintenance contracts with the dealership and are expected to cover 150,000km a year. They are currently delivering fuel returns of around 9mpg, pulling a mix of Montracon and SDC curtain-sided trailers, maintained in-house.
The company, which was set up in 2010, has a fleet of 18 trucks - all Volvo - and 21 employees. Collier Haulage MD Gregg Griffiths said his first truck in 2010 was a used Volvo FH-460 transporting empty pallets and exhibition stands.
“The team at the dealership are hugely supportive and carry out all our servicing and maintenance needs either in the evening or at weekends”, he added. “This means we're never really off the road and that's a compelling reason to stick with Volvo and this dealership.”
