The hydrogen combustion engined MAN hTGX has won the 2025 Truck Innovation Award. The prestigious accolade was presented to Alexander Vlaskamp, CEO of MAN Truck & Bus, during the IAA Transportation Show.

This marks MAN Truck & Bus’s third win, following awards for the aFAS Level 4 automated driverless safety truck in 2019 and the ATLAS-L4 and ANITA autonomous driving projects in 2023.

The Truck Innovation Award, created by the International Truck of the Year (IToY) jury, honours advanced transport solutions. The jury comprises 25 editors and senior journalists from leading trucking magazines across Europe and South Africa.

With 84 votes, the hTGX outperformed Renault Trucks' Oxygen prototype and Iveco's S-eWay Fuel Cell vehicle. The jury praised the hTGX's diesel-like performance, 600km range, and near-zero carbon footprint, describing it as a new chapter in decarbonising road transport.

Summing up the jury's decision, Gianenrico Griffini, chairman of the International Truck of the Year, said: "MAN's hTGX opens a new chapter in decarbonizing road transport. It can be the vehicle of choice for heavy-duty applications, such as in the construction sector, in challenging climatic conditions.”
