TruckEast has opened a £700,000 authorised testing facility (ATF) in Witham, Essex, including two approved lanes with 17m pits, meaning the longest trucks can be serviced and tested on the same equipment.

The Scania dealer started work on the facility, which was within its existing site, in July 2016. It features two new brake roller testers, a dedicated steam cleaning facility, a test trailer and loading facilities.

It has also built a third pit inside the workshop, taking the total workshop bays on the site to seven. The facility offers 24-hour servicing, general R&M for all makes of truck and trailer, a tachograph calibration area and new and used truck sales.

TruckEast regional aftersales director Martyn Clipston said the investment is the start of a complete refurbishment of the site. He added that new offices and technician facilities are scheduled for later this year.

“Our new facility has been welcomed by staff and customers,” he said. “With no other major testing facility within an hour’s drive of Witham, it provides convenience to local operators and is another service that enables us to keep our customers moving.”
