Several high-profile hauliers will be showcasing their fleets at this year’s opening Truckfest event.

The festival, which will take place at the Lincolnshire Show Ground over the 2-4 May Bank Holiday weekend, has already attracted hauliers such as the Malcolm Group, Sid Hill Transport and BM Transport. Meanwhile, WS Transportation will be sponsoring the 46m screen, which will be previewing all the action from the two arenas.

The event is being well attended by truck manufacturers too, including Scania UK, which will be celebrating its 60th anniversary. One of the trucks you can expect to see in the Scania Village is potato haulier Dave Crowson’s G-reg 93M rigid, which has covered 1 million miles. The truck was a winner at Truckfest in 1993.

The move from the East of England Showground to the Lincolnshire Show Ground was forced on Truckfest, when the former was closed for development. As we write, the main arena is in the process of being demolished to make way for housing.

Commenting on the change of venue, Live Promotions director Bob Limming, said: “We have found a superb new home, and we are thrilled with it. The facilities at the Lincolnshire Show Ground are fantastic, and the site is absolutely massive. It’s a fantastic venue, with so much space. We already have 2,000 trucks entered into the competitions, and that number is likely to reach 3,000.”

This year there will be a total of nine Truckfest events, including a new one in Wales. It will take place at the Royal Welsh Showground on 24-25 August.
