It’s a scenario we hope you won’t ever experience, but for the country's Fire Service, rescuing motorists after a road traffic accident is just part of the day job.

It’s a technical procedure that has to be executed quickly and in often testing and dangerous circumstances. Opportunities to practice are therefore understandably rare.

So, when Mercedes-Benz decided it was time to retire its Milton Keynes workshop training vehicle they generously donated the truck to Buckinghamshire Fire & Rescue Service to carry out some training of their own. Great Holm’s Blue Watch jumped at the chance to rescue a journalist in distress, and invited Commercial Motor to be its casualty with a camera.
