Viridor Waste Management has bought JWS Churngold for £14.25m.
JWS Churngold provides waste logistics and transport for the Lancashire Private Finance Initiative (PFI) waste contract.
It is a joint venture between the shareholders of JWS Waste & Recycling based in Salford, Greater Manchester and Churngold Holdings based in Avonmouth, Bristol.
JWS Churngold is licensed for 30 vehicles and 40 trailers across two operating centres: Leyland Waste Technology Park, and a former ICI plant located on Bourne Road, in Thornton-Cleveleys.
Colin Drummond, chief executive of Viridor, says: “JWS Churngold’s operations in Lancashire fit well with our existing and planned operations in the North-West, including those associated with the Viridor/Laing Greater Manchester waste PFI.
“The acquisition is expected to be earnings enhancing in its first full year.”
