Continuing a longstanding relationship with Volvo, CRJ Services has received two new 6x2 tractors, an FH16 650 and an FH540.
The Knutsford-based firm’s trucks were supplied by Mark Lingard, customer solutions manager at Thomas Hardie Commercials.
Joe Symons, transport manager at CRJ Services, said: “Having run Volvos on our fleet for much of the last 20 years, we know the quality of the product and we didn’t need much persuasion to go with them again this time. The new Volvos have been warmly received by our team here, and our drivers especially – they’re delighted with the power and torque available in both trucks.
“We also have a very close relationship with Thomas Hardie Commercials. Mark and his colleagues have always been extremely attentive to our needs, they are a pleasure to work with. All that considered, we cannot see ourselves going with any other manufacturer going forward.”
The FH16 has a Euro-6 Step(e) D16K engine with 650hp and peak torque of 3,150Nm. It’s paired with an automated 12-speed I-Shift gearbox and Volvo’s I-See predictive cruise control. To meet the demands of CRJ’s operations, the vehicle is plated for 65-tonne GCW. The truck is specified with the Drive+ package, one person living package and media pack with navigation.
Symons added: “Those creature comforts make the world of difference for our guys, so we’re more than happy to go the extra mile when it comes designing our specs.”
Safety equipment includes forward collision warning with advanced emergency braking and lane departure warning systems. The FH has a similar specification and produces 540hp and maximum torque of 2,600Nm. Both trucks are fitted with Globetrotter cabs.
The trucks will be used to move plant hire equipment across the UK and Ireland and are expected to cover 100,000km every year. CRJ opted for the Volvo Blue Contract which includes preventative maintenance.
