Volvo Truck and Bus Centre North & Scotland Aberdeen has supplied Robert Addison Haulage with its first Volvo tractor unit in 23 years.
The Aberdeenshire-based haulier’s FH-540 6x2 tag axle comes with a Globetrotter XL cab, D13K engine that produces 540hp, 12-speed I-Shift automated manual transmission system and 3200mm wheelbase.
There is also a 600-litre fuel tank, Alcoa Dura-Bright alloy wheels and a custom-made chassis box for load restraints by Alan Dunbar. Several of the haulier’s customers produce finished timber products, and the truck will haul both curtain-sided and platform trailers across the UK.
The operator, which runs a fleet of 20 trucks, selected a three-year Volvo Gold Service Contract for the vehicle, which will be carried out at the dealer’s branch in Perth.
Alastair Arbuthnott, owning partner at Robert Addison Haulage, said: “Our last Volvo tractor unit was an F10, but since then we’ve operated a selection of Volvo rigid trucks.
“We still use a 1994 Volvo FL6 on an occasional basis. We bought that 11-tonner new and it’s been a great vehicle. Nowadays it keeps to local work.
“It’s early days yet, but the FH-540 has not missed a beat. The driver likes it and reports good cab comfort levels. Everything throughout the ordering and delivery process has been on time, as promised.”
