The Volvo Group has opened its first battery assembly plant.

Located at Volvo Trucks’ Ghent, Belgium factory, the new Facility will supply ready-to-install batteries for both Volvo Trucks’ and Renault Trucks’ full-electric heavy-duty trucks.

The battery packs, which will consist of cells and modules from Samsung SDI, will have a capacity of 90kWh. The number of batteries chosen by the customer will be determined by the particular application and the required range.

“This investment shows our strong commitment to electrifying truck transportation,” said Roger Alm, president of Volvo Trucks. “By 2030, at least 50% of all trucks we sell globally will be electric and by 2040, we will be a carbon-neutral company.”

Renault Trucks and Volvo trucks will both be exhibiting at Road Transport Expo at NAEC Stoneleigh (30 June to 2 July), and you can drive their electric trucks in the Ride & Drive zone. Register now for FREE. https://roadtransportexpo-2022.reg.buzz/
